WIP'in 'em Out with LNV

I have been avoiding blogging from home lately to spend more time with the HusBoy, but it's been a while since I've graced the blog with pictures and he's sleeping anyway, so let's cheat!

This week was super-productive for a change. I've been downloading the Lime 'n' Violet archive and knitting like mad while I listen. After taking so long to get the first three balls underway, I finished an entire ball of DUCK knitting in one evening. The whole damn skein. And, of course, I scoffed at the idea of being so productive, so I only packed the one ball. No worries though, I have already replenished the knitting/laptop/book/goody bag and am well prepared for next week.

Wanna see?

I'm now 4/20 balls into this blue beastie and have 6 weeks (excluding vacation time at home) in which to get it knit, blocked, and wrapped. Who wants to bet the HusBoy's present this year will have needles in it?

The second night, being all out of DUCK yarn, I began working on the poor, neglected Colinette 5 hat. Two or three episodes later, it was done!

No, that's not a pom-pom! Okay, maybe a low-grade one. A pom perhaps.

The colors are actually much brighter than this picture would have you believe. Go back to my picture of the original yarn, you'll see.

The pattern was a trial-and-error sort of dealie. If you like avoiding that sort of thing, here's what I did.

  • Grab some short-cabled US size 11 circulars and cast on 48 stitches.
  • K2, P2 until you're happy with the amount of ribbing.
  • K for 5-6 inches, something around there.
  • K2 together after every 6 inches, then K, then K2tog after 5, etc, etc.
  • When you've got 24 (half) stitches left, do the decrease thing on every row.
  • When you've got 6 stitches left, pull the tail through the live stitches, pull tight, and viola! You've got yourself something to retain some of that precious body heat.

This is not in any way, shape, or form a complete pattern. If you'd like one let me know and I'll hook you up, but if you've done a few hats before I'll assume you'll figure out what to do with this.

Last night I tried to sleep. Really! I fell asleep in the middle of episode 10 and finally went to bed. I was just dozing off when the first call came in. I slapped my phone until it stopped ringing. The phone started beeping about a message, I slapped it until the sound stopped. Another call came in and I figured I better answer it. Now before you get the impression that I'm all p-o'ed at the folks who called, I am really not. They were making sure that I wasn't on fire and I appreciate that, but after all that there was no going back to sleep, no matter how hard I pretended to snore and curse the universe for knowing the worst time to have everyone in said universe call me.

So, I finished the HusBoy's Socks:

There were a few knots in the second skein, and in my sleep-deprived state I didn't match up the stripes exactly for the first knot, so the stripes don't quite match on the top half of the cuffs, but the HusBoy doesn't give a damn; he's just happy to get more socks (don't you just adore him?!?).

And, for your gratification, here's a picture of my Fanciwerks Yarn Shoppe p*rn:

Stinker Sold Separately

I've been looking at the blog and I'm kinda hating it. The links are all out of date and I'd rather use buttons than plain old links if I can get them to work again. So, I'm planning on working on spiffing up the blog sometime next week (but don't hold me to it). I've gots to learn me some HTML coding. Seriously.

Sorry about the running out of yarn on travel deal. I did that once. Forgot to pack the last ball of shawl yarn. Won't do that again. :/
